Dropping It Like It's HOT - New LowBoy Modular Tool Belt Panel

The new Lowboy is available now! It's essentially a ModPanel on a clip. It comes in Single-Wide and Double-Wide varieties, which will let you gang up 2 or 4 holsters.

Why we made it?

We’ve got more and more people using Holstery gear for a full belt system, so we designed the Lowboy to help out with that.

I originally designed all the Holstery clip-on holsters to ride high. Tool bags generally hang off a belt well below the waist and I felt like that would allow them to flop around and hit stuff. So our holsters brought your gear up and to the waist level.

Fast forward and I’m changing my tune a bit. Even I (yes, it’s true) like to have bigger loads hanging a bit lower. The sweet spot seems to be about where your hand naturally falls, which makes it really easy to select and grab a tool.

The lowdown.

On top of hanging below the belt in that "sweet spot" for easy grabbing, there are a couple of cool things that these allow you to do:

  1. You can easily use your Holstery gear while you’re wearing a jacket or sweatshirt. That should be helpful in the coming cooler months.
  2. You can gang up multiple holsters in one spot. Previously, there was the problem of running out of real estate on the belt. The best spot is right there on the side of the hips. Now you can put up to 4 holsters there instead of just
  3. You can load out a set of holsters for specific jobs with just one clip. A Single-Wide Lowboy can hold a MagMaster and a Joey - a perfect combo for technician work.

My favorite combo:

Using the Double-Wide Lowboy for my left hand. I typically load it up like this:

- Two Joey Pros on the bottom row. These hold supplies (wire nuts, staples, screws, fittings, etc) and I can use the ModSlots on the Joeys for pens, markers, and knives. Sometimes I’ll even throw a MagMaster on the side to hold drill bits.
- MagMaster on the top left. This holds random hardware or other drill bits.
- TapeMaster on the top right for my tape measure.
- Occasionally I’ll swap one of the lower Joeys for a SquareMaster Pro if I’m doing framing or other carpentry work.

I think the Lowboy is our first step into making a modular replacement for tool belts. Now you can really stack up different holsters to make something truly unique to how YOU work.
