After 21 years in the trenches, Aaron Miiler knows what's up.
Who are you and what do you do?
"My name is Aaron Miller, I've been a carpenter almost 21 years now. In fact, I've never had another job ever. I kind of grew up in it, working every summer with my dad through high school, and then going full time after that."
How did you get started in your trade?
"Throughout high School, there was a lot of pressure to attend college. I knew immediately that was not even an option for me. I hated school so much, I knew the day that I graduated, I would never step foot back on another campus. I went to work immediately with my dad, and we were a two-man team for many years."
What's something Most people don't realize about your trade?
"Most people don't realize that I can't see through walls. Many of my clients want a price out the door for all of the work I'm going to perform. It's like taking your car to a mechanic and asking him for a price before he even knows what's wrong with it. Sometimes it's just not possible."
Can you tell us about your tool carry setup?
"Currently I'm rocking the Holstery ModBelt, A single Lowboy on my left side, and a Double Lowboy on my right side. On the left Lowboy one of the Big Joey Pouches most of the time is all I need. On the right Lowboy I always have the Tape Master and my Hammer master. This minimalistic approach is essential if I'm going to stay light and fast like a cheetah in the streets. Most guys want to wear massive tool bags and carry 100 lb all day long. They are idiots."
If you had to strip your setup down to the essentials what stays?
"Big Joey pouch no question. The original Joey pouch was my first ever product from Holstery and it was an absolute game changer for me. For many years I had been looking for something like it."
What's a small upgrade that made a big difference in your workflow?
"Truewerk pants. Let me explain. Before wearing those pants, I had never even heard of a pica pencil. I was constantly losing my pencils on the job sites. Once I got the pants, I realized they had a dedicated pencil holder and saw guys online using these green pencils. I thought they looked cool so I decided to try one. Now I literally never lose my pencil and it's with me on the job all day and I know exactly where it's at. Plus that cell phone pocket is a huge deal."
